Women in Medicine – Hybrid Production

Hybrid Production including On-site, Studio Production, and Virtual Presenters

This event, in June of ’21, was one of our first to incorporate an on-site component since the start of the pandemic. While attendance was still remote, a small crew set up two socially distanced “stages” in the Northwest Permanente offices in Portland to allow the CEO and event emcee to present live, while a Blaze director brought in remote guests from across the country and ran the broadcast from Master Control at the Blaze Streaming Office. This hybrid production approach offers a balance of quality and flexibility for clients.

Cornerstone Convergence – Full Virtual Customer Conference

Convergence has traditionally been a multi-day, in-person customer conference that showcases new products and offers training for new offerings. For the second year, we produced a fully virtual event that included:

  • On track of live and recorded keynotes
  • 70+ prerecorded session videos with live Q&A streamed on four concurrent live tracks. Four tracks of simulive session video playout
  • Live panels with 3 – 6 presenters
  • Two day live show was streamed to EMEA and Americas time zones.
  • Post event video on demand edited and quickly hosted for viewer

Corporate All-Hands Meeting

In May of 2020, Blaze provided project management and live video production for an internal corporate meeting with over 7,000 remote attendees. We included primary and secondary encoders for each track to support seamless backup of the livestream.

This is another example of Blaze tailoring its offerings to meet the needs of our clients.

Automattic Grand Meetup

Blaze worked with Automattic in September 2019 to cover their annual employee meeting. We live streamed daily keynote presentations, covered a series of Ask-Me-Anything talks with the CEO, created 200+ employee introduction videos, and captured pre- and post-event festivities. This is a great example of how Blaze works with individual clients to tailor services to their needs.

TwitchCon San Diego

For the third year, Blaze partnered with Twitch to stream various aspects of TwitchCon in San Diego, Calif. We built a custom streaming and switching solution to provide access to live content across six panel rooms during the conference. This allowed us to use a single 4k camera along with graphics and audio to provide multiple looks in each room’s livestream.

We also streamed daily from the Glitch Stage Keynotes, provided a live roaming camera, created an interview set for live coverage of Thursday Night Football in partnership with the NFL, and streamed a concert from the field at PetCo park to 25,000 viewers.

AiCon with O’Reilly Media

2019 has been the year of solidifying a new custom built workflow for capturing breakout video and quickly turning a final edit to our client’s desired location. AiCon included nine rooms over three days that we were able to capture, edit and upload in record time. With our proprietary hardware, we are able to quickly scale from 3 to 30 breakout rooms to capture all of your event’s needs.

TEDx Portland

Blaze partnered with TEDx Portland for the seventh year to provide livestream and in-venue video for TEDx Portland’s annual event. This event showcases our ability to scale to the needs of specific events. We provided eight cameras; including a jib, two handheld cameras, feature cameras at the back of the venue, and wide lock off shots to create well rounded coverage of the events. Additionally, we provided a live interview set with a roaming camera that covered events during breaks and provided a behind-the-scenes look.

WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association)

WFTDA Women’s roller derby has partnered with Blaze for over a decade to provide live production for their playoff and championship tournaments. We have been able to grow alongside the community as the sport has changed over the course of its lifetime.

This year, we incorporated LiveU LU300 cellular bonded units to create a simple workflow that allows us to direct and stream an entire weekend tournament from our studio in Portland, Ore. This gives us the ability to reduce the cost of production while continuing to create incredibly high-quality video and offer additional services at the same time. This year, in addition to the primary livestream with four cameras and instant replay, we provided quick turn uploads of each game, highlight reels, an additional promo stream to Twitch.com, and up-to-the-minute commercial additions.
